Storm Water
As practitioners of the magickal arts it is extremely beneficial to work at developing the ability to sense, identify, manipulate and direct energy. I won’t pretend there is only one way to be an effective practitioner, but I would be lying if I said that working with energy wasn’t a huge part of it in my experience.
We each come to this practice with our own level of sensitivity to the energies around us, but actively working toward heightened levels of sensitivity is often part of our magickal development even if that is not our conscious intention. This is of course a wonderful thing on many levels, but there can be a few drawbacks not the least of which is feeling the effects of energies that are less than harmonious to us.
There are many methods of clearing energy, but a cleansing spray is extremely easy to make and carry with us everywhere we go. Personally I prefer to use storm water. Not only is it untreated and natural, but it is also infused with extra energy and extremely easy to collect. Storm water is so wonderful because when water vapor condenses it releases heat. Heat is a form of energy. Thunder is created by lightening and lightening is basically a stream of electrons flowing between clouds, within clouds or between the ground and clouds. The air around these electrons is heated to temperatures three times hotter than the surface of the sun. That means that a lot of energy is generated during thunderstorms and the falling rain is infused with all that energy.
Collecting this super charged water is as simple as putting out a clean vessel during a storm. Of course whatever container we use should be placed out in the open to avoid any run off. Run off from roofs or even trees and plants could contaminate our water. (Have you ever seen birds perched on rooftops? I love birds, but they do their business whenever and wherever they are. Roofs are filthy.) Another concern of course would be environmental pollution. If we live in an area without strong air pollution regulations collecting storm water for the purpose of cleansing would be a bad idea.
When making storm water cleansing spray we prefer to add crystals and essential oils that support the waters cleansing properties, but this of course is a personal choice.
